After watching the "Vegas" episode from last night's Stargate Atlantis, I was inspired to come up with a Top 10 list featuring all of my favorite bad guys who aren't human.
10. Lucifer (from the film "
Prophecy")

The bad guy is played by none other than Viggo Mortensen. What's not to love? Granted, this is satan we're talking about here. But still, he's pretty hot for a bad guy, no? He's got the broody look down pretty good, which is an odd twist for the character. He's not the charismatic good guy that is seen so often in these types. He's enticing in his seduction, and he's brutally honest when considering his views.
"Other angels have made this war because they hate you, you and all humans. God has put you in his grace and pushed them aside. They're desperate. They've never been able to conquer the other loyal angels, and so this war has remained in stalemate for thousands of years. And while this state of affairs endures no soul can meet its god. Your parents, and their parents, and so on from the beginning lie still in wormy earth. Of course, some of them do come to me eventually, for while heaven may be closed I am always open, even on Christmas."9. Dwayne (from the film "
The Lost Boys")

I bet you're wondering how he could possibly be bumped up on the list over Viggo. This guy was my first crush. Well, one of them anyway. Keifer Sutherland was just a blip on the radar. He's just so.... guh. *drools* There's no question of his evilness here. I'll admit that he only made this list because he's hot. I told my Mom about this one on my list and she goes, "Oh right. The one with the dark hair and the big... muscles." LOL - Yeah, that's the one.
Sadly, he doesn't have any good lines in the film. This is as good as it gets:
Dwayne: [standing up after almost getting hit by bow and arrow] You missed, sucker!
Sam Emerson: Only once, pal.
8. Lestat (from the film "
Queen of the Damned")

I've never been a fan of the books, or the films. They all suck. This movie had a little something that the others didn't: Stuart Townsend, Mr. Lestat de Lioncourt himself. Aaliyah (Queen Akasha) was a pretty damn good addition to the film as well. Okay, and maybe Vincent Perez (Marius) too. Right, point is the guy was hot. He's not a card carrying member of the White Hats. May have participated in some redeeming activities now and again, but by and far he's still a bad guy. A really cute one. His outlook on life interests me here. I imagine it's something pretty close to the truth if it was real. What would life be like for someone that lives an eternity?
"There comes a time for every vampire when the idea of eternity becomes momentarily unbearable. Living in the shadows, feeding in the darkness with only your own company to keep, rots into a solitary, hollow existence. Immortality seems like a good idea, until you realize you're going to spend it alone. So I went to sleep, hoping that the sounds of the passing eras would fade out, and a sort of death might happen..."7. Jareth (from the film "
Labyrinth")

Another one of my early crushes. Honestly, I didn't see the film until I was in high school. It's such a classic though. It was also the first film I watched where I realized that I might have been just a bit warped. I was actually rooting for the bad guy. It was all downhill after that. Jareth is an interesting character. He's cruel, and kind. He's a manipulator, and yet he allows others much leeway. He's loyal, and yet you can be damn sure that he's not one to cross. He's an enigma.
"Everything! Everything that you wanted I have done. You asked that the child be taken. I took him. You cowered before me, I was frightening. I have reordered time. I have turned the world upside down, and I have done it all for you! I am exhausted from living up to your expectations of me. Isn't that generous?"6. Darth Maul (from the film "
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace")

He wasn't around for very long. He was sent on a mission. He went on said mission and failed spectacularly. But he looked hot while he did it. He's actually appeared in other Star Wars things. He had all of two lines in Star Wars. He had some classic lines in the other stuff, like my personal favorite, "Die, Jedi, die!" While he is a cute little Darth, he's not the most outspoken of them all.
"At last we will reveal ourselves to the Jedi. At last we will have revenge."5. Riddick (from the film "
The Chronicles of Riddick")

This guy just cracks me up. Not to mention the arms bigger than my thighs. He's just HUGE! Love the eyes. They're so pretty and shiny. *happy sigh* But back to my point, he makes me laugh. His sense of humor is dry, and rather morbid at times. He's not a good guy. He's just... not. I don't think the man has a decent bone in his body. If he does it, there's a reason for it, and usually that reason is his own hide. But you gotta love him. I realize he's not the bad guy in the film. To me though, it's more like bad guy against bad guy. Which bad guy is gonna come out on top? The good guys just happened to get mixed up in the crossfire.
"Merceneries. Elementals. Necromongers. Shit, I've never been so popular. I should probaly slip these chains and open up a few arteries. But why drive when you can get driven? Free ticket to Crematoria. Thanks Toombs. Got me some business there, named Jack. And once we settle up, I walk away forever. So I'll just wait... all back-of-the-bus for now."4. Dracula (from the film "
Dracula 2000")

I must admit, this is my favorite of all the various incarnations of Dracula. It's not just Gerard Butler that does it for me, it's the whole story behind the character. Plus, not only does he have some great lines, he's got to be the hottest vampire out there. Wowza. He's got that same odd outlook on life that Lestat did, which is interesting. In an odd way though, he's got much more... bitterness to him. It drives him. It's such an odd thing to watch, and yet Butler manages to pull it off beautifully.
"You cannot imagine the pain I have endured. I was born of the very wrath of God. Let me show you what I have shown no other."3. Wraith (from the Stargate Atlantis episode "
Vegas")

This is probably the oddest one I have up here, especially given the placement on the list. Pretty high up there at the third from the top. He's more representative of the race as a whole. Well, not the entire race. Mostly the ones like Michael, Todd, and others. There's just something about them that hits a chord with me. They're on the bad guy list, but at the same time they just do what they have to in order to get by. This particular wraith is a fine example of that. He adapted to his environment in order to get what he needed. Not sure he had much of anything to say for the entire episode, but it was well worth watching. The guy was just drool-worthy. o.0
2. Prince Nuada (from the film "
Hell Boy 2: The Golden Army")

I had a tough time choosing between the wraith and this guy. Prince Nuada won out for one thing: fighting. It's a kink. I'll admit it. A really good battle scene just... gets me. Near the beginning of the film you see the Prince practice his battle skills. I was on the edge of my seat getting ready to yell up at the guy with the projector to rewind it so I could watch it again. Wow. The character itself is an odd one. He starts out fairly mild, and ends up rather psychotic. You can't really blame the guy, as I'm sure he had a rather rough upbringing. But I was so curious how his sister turned out so differently from him. Perhaps if she didn't have him to look to, she would have. Second reason he's on this list, and you know this one already, he's really hot. Just... damn.
1. Spike (from the television show "
Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "
Angel")

My all time favorite, my number one bad guy of all time, Spike. I've never seen him as a good guy. He's a bad guy with tendencies to involve himself with the good guys every now and then. I think it was usually a case of the White Hats just happened to be going the same way he was. Didn't have the same destinations in mind, of course. I think that changed once he got his soul. But Spike from Season 2 through 6 is on the list for sure. He'll always be my favorite though because of what he means to me. It's not just the character and what he went through in his life. It's also what he represents to me: he's the one that got me started in fandom. I didn't really sit up and take notice of what went on for fans outside of the show until I saw this character. He's the first one that made me want to know more. I wanted to have answers to questions that weren't being asked. This is one of the biggest reasons he's my number one favorite non-human bad guy.
