Just caught the latest update to the Facebook-Twitter kerfuffle. Seems LJ attempted to fix the cross-posting issue so that protected and screened items wouldn't be affected.

Except there's a loophole.
If you've opted into Cyrillic services, you'll still be able to cross-post protected and screened comments

*sigh* Rather defeats the purpose, no?

The only good thing is that supposedly these items won't even show if you've not filled out your info. Which is good for me, but what about everyone else?

This is just a quick fix for your CSS to get rid of the ticky boxes in your comment section. It won't prevent those who have auto-share (or viewing in their own style), but those that pick and choose what to share on Facebook and Twitter will be blocked. I couldn't get rid of the entire section yet, but it's a start.

CSS PATCH CODE:
/* ---FB-Twitter Comment Ticky Fix--- */
.b-repost-items, .b-repost-item, .b-repost-item IMG, #entry-form-wrapper .b-repost-item, b-repost-item-fb {
display: none;
}

.b-repost-item .repost_disabled {
color: #CCC;
display: none;
}

INSTRUCTIONS:
To get to the custom CSS box if you're not aware, you go to the main menu and click: Journal >> Journal Style >> Customize your theme >> Custom CSS

Just go here. From there you cut and paste the code above into the box (anywhere is fine - I added mine to the bottom of my layout codes), and hit "Save Changes"

NOTES:
* Comments I've gotten about it say that it's seems to work best in S2 layouts.
* You need custom comment pages enabled in order for this to work. You get that option with Plus account and above (though with the Plus, while still free, you have to deal with ads).
* If you're thinking the code seems a bit redundant, you'd be right. But then I'm paranoid, so I went with safe just in case.
* This is an updated version of the code. Nothing different than the first other than it's streamlined a bit.
* Have just learned LJ has a "Share This!" link at the bottom of every post. Never noticed that before, but I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of it now. More on this one later! Fixed! See link below.

REMOVING "SHARE THIS!" FROM LINKBAR:
I've found someone that had a solution for removing the "Share" link from the comment links section. It was done for Smooth Sailing layouts, though seems to work fine for my Bloggish. It probably won't work for everything though, so I'll keep a watch out for others. You can find the code I used here

P.S. Feel free to share this in your own journal.

I had originally set my Facebook and Twitter to mirror my posts. Mostly because I don't have but a very few people that actually have LJs on those sites that I'm friends with. But I changed my mind. I just don't trust the system.

I'm having trouble with the idea that some of the posts I've got locked down may not be protected. Plus, I'm not keen on it mirroring posts for people that ARE over there on my friends list as well. In the reverse it drives me nuts, so I can see the logic of just doing away with it.

Goes without saying for me that the comments bit is completely worthless. Same reasons apply there, as I've heard they're publishing everything including filtered and locked posts and it'd get tedious besides.

So, I've got the whole damn thing turned off.

Don't care either way if the few people I see over there do mirror them. I'll skip over it anyway since I get email notifications of updates.

As for the ticky boxes they have on every post, it bugs me a bit. I do like having the option to mirror posts if I so choose (an option I'll never use anyway). I can't guarantee comments and posts are protected so it's rather a moot point anyway.

Woo, take a deep breath. *flails* I'm downgrading from Paid today. Been YEARS since I've done that.

I've deleted 112 icons.

I've weeded down my subscriptions to 175.

I've deleted 4 of my Scrapbook galleries.

I even switched over my layout to a basic one (customized CSS of course, because I am ME).

I can do this. *deep flailing breath*

I'm going to finally buckle down and re-do my layout. Changes made in LJ have made my layout codes unusable, and neither does it work in Internet Explorer any longer.

So, ever onwards. Forgive the mess while I'm working with it. I'm thinking of doing something multi-fandom that vaguely reflects the new design I've been working on for my personal site and Twitter.

Wish me luck!

P.S. I need an icon overhaul! Anyone got recs for icons? I want some for different shows like Psych, NCIS LA, Supernatural, Burn Notice, and etc. Anything and everything.

Okay, I admit I don't give a whit one way or the other. *shrug*

Honestly, my HTML coding to make it all pretteh is still there. It isn't fouled up at all. Plus, I get to see all the information in pretty organized shapes. *rubs hands in OCD glee*

Please don't lynch me. *holds up gihugic box of chocolate in defense*
