Hi, found your LJ through fall_for_sx and the layouts you posted there.
Just wanted to say your artwork is awesome! And the resources page on the design portfolio part of your website was very helpful. I have just started playing with Photoshop and there is so much to learn, not just the program but everything that goes along with making fanart, like finding stock images and just the basic definitions of things. I haven't a clue where to start.
So, I hope you don't mind but I friended you, in the hopes of learning alot.
No, I don't mind at all. That's wonderful that you find it helpful. I appreciate the comments. I've been hoping to have some time lately to put up some tutorials or something for people, but I'm glad to hear the resources section was helpful.
Just let me know anytime you want to know something. :) I'm always happy to help, if I can.
What would be great is if you could point me in the right direction to sites, that define fanart, photoshop terms and/or etiquette, so that when I ask questions I don't sound like an idiot.
Sorry it's taken me so long to answer. I guess I've just been in the art area for so long, I'd never given this much thought. I'd started out with PSP in user forums and learned a lot there. As for PS specific information, I just learned by practice and through tutorials.
I looked up a few things that might help you though. There's an ebook you can download here. Right column at the bottom you can just download it without payment if you wish.
Also, there's an online version of the same kind of thing here. In the left hand column, there's navigation index that'll show you the type of subjects covered.
As for etiquette and such, really you'll just need to get a feel for that. Visit a few different forums. Each of them will usually have their own list of rules or a FAQ somewhere that'll tell you what you need to know. When in doubt though, don't be afraid to ask. :)
