What a morning...

Started the new route this morning.  The first part of the route isn't bad.  We just picked up two teenagers that go to a special self-paced school.  Had a short break.  Then we picked up the hellions.

They weren't actually as bad this morning as usual, or so says the driver.  There were 51 kids, which is about ten or so more than usual.  I didn't get to sit down for the entire time they were on there as I was walking up and down the aisle dealing with minor issues.  I still say they're cute lil' buggers.

Driver says the time to watch out for them is in the afternoon.  He said, "Don't really wanna turn your back on them in the afternoon.  Their medication has worn off and they're usually packing about 5 pounds of candy each."

*boggles*  Medication?  Most of them are ELL students, Spanish speaking, and about half of them are ADD too.  Wonderful.  Shouldn't be too bad, though.  I need to brush up on my Spanish a bit.  I'll be fine if I can learn a few phrases like, "Move to the window, please" - "Stay in your seat." - "Keep your voice down."  Might help if I learn how to say the bus rules in Spanish as well.  I actually can read most Spanish, I just don't understand what it is I'm reading.

Anyway, if you don't hear from me by tomorrow afternoon, you can assume they've taken me hostage and are demanding more chocolate for ransom.  Wish me luck.

It's funny, I've never really thought of myself as having much patience. I've also got a short temper. I've discovered though that whenever the little buggers look at me with their big anime eyes and stick out their little lips in a pout? I can't help but feel all my anger and impatience melt away. Go figure. *g*

Still terrified to deal with them this afternoon though, so thank you for the luck. I think I'm gonna need it. :)
