Our trip started with a dead car. It lost power and wouldn't re-start after we parked in our camping spot. We didn't pay it much mind though until shortly before we left.

Hubby and I were accompanied by my mother, his parents, one of his brothers and three of our nephews. We didn't do much the first night other than setup camp. The next morning we had breakfast together and hung out at his parents camp.

Later on in the afternoon, his two youngest brothers showed up. They're such a riot. We all just sat around catching up with things until his oldest brother showed up with his wife and five children. Once they got there, it was more or less just a matter of spending time with the nieces and nephews and planning for dinner.

There was wood cutting contests (typical male posturing), making a raft out of sticks, crayon art by campfire, and just hanging out in general. At some point in time one of his Uncles showed up with his son, but they didn't stay longer than an hour or two. His oldest sister showed up for the day towards the end with her hubby and two children. It was that day we all headed up to what is called the Plunge. It's a natural hot springs they drain into a pool high up in the mountains. Cool place. We all had a great time there. Not much to say other than it was nice and warm.

There was the brothers, my Mom and Hubby and I, and his parents all driving around looking for a good place to do target practice with the guns we all brought (hubby had a shotgun and a 22mm handgun, and his youngest brother also brought a 22mm hangun.) Didn't find any good places, but it was a really nice drive. We found this lovely waterfalls that start at the top of the mountain and trickle down the rocks and between the trees. Not much to it this time of the year, but it was still lovely.

Hubby and his youngest brother managed to get up early on the last day and spend time together with their guns. None of the others really had the gumption to get up at 7am to watch them.

Hubby finally found what was wrong with our car before we left. Turns out the power wire leading from the battery to the fuse box had come loose during the drive. He attached a new wire, and we were good to go.

All in all we just had a nice relaxing weekend. None of us really did as many activities as we usually do, other than to watch the children run around tiring themselves out. I didn't take any pictures either. My brother in law did though, so I'll post some pics of my nieces and nephews once he gives us copies. I tell ya', them lil' buggers are cute. *gr*

ETA: For those of you that might wonder, hubby has five brothers and two sisters. From that we have a total of seven nephews and five nieces. Also? There is still one older brother and two younger brothers left in the family that have yet to have kids.

Oh it really was. I was so pleased my Mom came with us too. It's her first real break from things since the divorce. I'm happy to report she thoroughly enjoyed herself and is already making plans for next year's trip. *gr*

Well that makes the trip that much better. My husband and I traveled to Mexico with both sets of parents shortly after we got married. I will never travel with both sets again. *grins*

Glad your mom enjoyed it!

Glad you had a nice time!

My wife has four brothers and two sisters, but only the oldest sister (passed away) had any kids. Needless to say, my mother-in-law desperately wants more grandkids.

Ooh yeah, know that feeling. My mother-in-law wants more, and she's determined to convince us it's our turn.
