If you're wondering what I watched last night in lieu of Angel (and I know you all are just dying to find out), I was watching an old Vincent Price flik from the 60s called "The Last Man on Earth". It was about vampires of all things. The gist of the film was that a man, a scientist played by Vincent Price, was the last living human on earth three years after the whole thing started. Everyone was pretty much dead, or would be soon. The entire planet was overrun by vampires.

In this movie, a person turned into a vampire as a result of a virus. This virus would render the person sick. Then, after they had eventually died from it they would return as vampires. Before the epidemic spread, the humans were being burned after they died to prevent them from returning as vampires. The virus while in the still living human could not be killed. The vampire could not be killed either. Staking it didn't kill it so much as prevent the heart from repairing itself. Then after you staked it, you had to burn the body.

I won't bother telling you how it turned out, you'll just have to watch it. It was interesting to watch though. The perspective, the narration, the twist in the ending. Fascinating to watching things like this and get an alternate view on how the whole vampire thing worked. Especially considering those classic monster fliks that were ever so popular, this one was quite different.
