Mom and Dad are off to a great start. Mom changed the locks. Dad took the tennis bracelet he gave her for their 35th anniversary. She got served with the papers yesterday and there was a restraining order included. *Sigh* I'm really trying to keep my views on this objective, but Dad's not helping any. I'm really dissapointed, as is my sister.

Ooh, and for you [livejournal.com profile] sekhmet_ra_ I found some pics of at least one of the knives from my collection. As soon as I get a chance today, I'll upload them and post it here...

In other news, I am a bit behind on my Nano, but I'm catching up. I'm over 3000 words now which puts me at about half of what I had hoped to be at by today. Nobody's home at all today, so I'll have plenty of time to myself to devote to writing (is that good or bad?). I've posted an excerpt over in my profile, but for those lucky ducks here I'll post it here too.

As soon as Lucinda gets outside, she stops and takes a few deep breaths. Once she’s calmed herself slightly, she begins a slow walk to her SUV. She’s not sure if she can handle dealing with Anthony just now. He brushed her off so easily. She feels hurt by this, but at the same time, she’s not entirely surprised. She reaches the curb and carefully treads down the narrow path it creates towards the rear door. She lightly runs her fingers along the side doors, focusing on the smooth surface of the new paint. She gets her keys out of her purse as she steps off the curb, and then opens the rear door. She can’t gather the energy to bother looking for her laptop case. She’s too lost in her thoughts to think of anything but Anthony’s behavior towards her throughout their past.

It’s not as if this is the first incident of this kind. In fact, his tendency towards overbearing behavior is one of the main reasons she’s never been interested in pursuing a relationship with him. She’s always been content with things just as they were. Part of her problem has always been fear of rocking the boat. Anthony has treated her so well over the years since she lost her friends. He means too much to her now to let anything threaten their relationship.

At times like this, she can’t help but think back to the last few weeks she had with Thomas. He had always been her rock. When he started losing himself, she couldn’t help but mourn the loss. Their relationship transformed from mutual affection to abuse. Thomas never abused her physically or emotionally. His soul is just too precious to consider treating her with that level of disrespect. His abuse always took the form of advantage. She had the advantage that he was more than willing to take.
