Grant you this news is 5 days old, but I'm backlogged on my emails so forgive me if you've heard this before.

Also? Pardon me while I rant.

"The creative team that brought the world the first 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' motion picture is going to try again ... with a remake. Sans Joss Whedon."

Hate to break it to you guys, but that means making the movie without the creative team. Got the news from Airlockalpha.com in case you're curious.

Sans Joss Whedon, sans the characters from the TV show... *sigh*

I guess they're hoping for a money-spinning reboot along the lines of the ST reboot, but the reason ST works so well is they use the original charas from TOS in a new and interesting way. Maybe it'll work in these Twilight days, but ignoring the show's very loyal fanbase seems a bit daft.

It's not the same without Whedon or the characters. I get why they would want to try it, but I think you're right about them forgetting the loyal fanbase.

I can't see them ever getting what they want out of it.

ah yes, let's pee all over Joss's creation... again... because it worked so well the first time! never mind the fact that the first movie was SO BAD that it put people off from watching the show.

some people never learn. i sincerely believe money is the deciding factor behind a lot of really, really stupid moves.

Yeah, the impact of the first movie was bad. I can't imagine what a remake will do.

Cringe-worthy is a good way to put it. Rather like a train wreck waiting to happen in that respect.
