It's an odd browser, that's for sure. I checked it out just from curiosity, and especially since I heard they'd finally changed their TOS to something more user friendly. I read it thoroughly just to be sure they'd not slipped anything untoward in it.

I hate it, and at the same time I love it.

I hate that it doesn't have add-on support, there's no bookmarking, there's no ad suppression, there's none of the fancy extras you get with Firefox.

NOTE: I just found the bookmarking feature. It's hidden under a cute little star at the front of the address bar. Still, I don't think there's a way to organize the bookmarks like you can with Firefox. Which still puts it right back onto the hate it list.

On the other hand, it really is ridiculously fast compared to Firefox and Internet Explorer.

So I settle for a compromise. As it turns out, there's an extension for Firefox that will allow you to both set up certain sites that might work better in Chrome to automatically open up in that browser every time they're clicked, and also to allow you to right-click select viewing links in the browser.

Which is cool. The best of both worlds. So I still use Firefox, but I've found some times I use, like YouTube and GMail, works best with Chrome. For whatever odd reason sites like YouTube (or really any media heavy site) have been incredibly slow for me lately. Using Chrome to watch videos there though means there's no lag. Not sure where the difference is, but I'll take it.

I guess all in all, it kinda sucks as a browser. I'll stick with my Firefox. But I'll use it every once in awhile as the mood suits.

Am I the only person in the universe who hates Firefox?

LOL - Quite likely, yes. There are certain aspects of it I quite detest. But in lieu of what I'd go through trying to use IE, I'll stick with it. It has a lot that I do like about it. I do hate that it collects in my memory like a memory sucking thing, and I hate that there are some sites that just refuse to work in it (like government sites). *shrug* I work around that though. I tried to switch over to IE again when they came out with that fangdangled new version they had, 7 or something, but it was too weird for me to get the hang of. Kept frustrating me to no end.

I had nothing but hassles and problems with Firefox...it hated me and did its level best to ruin my online life. *sigh*

It's really that much quicker? Might be handy for certain sites. Hmmm, I might give it a go.

For me it was, yeah. Might not be for everybody. Where I saw a difference though is with media heavy sites. They just loaded much faster for me, and I could view content without hassle. Like with Firefox and MSIE, I have to shut down all my unnecessary applications in order to run YouTube without the lag. Same goes for sites like MySpace which generally has a very media heavy login page. Using it now, I can leave everything open and still watch it faster than I could in Firefox after shutting everything down. It seems to work fairly fast for Gmail and linking to stuff in emails, like checking liverjournal comments. It loads the pages faster than Firefox does.

Agreed. I'll still use it for YouTube, but that's probably about it.

Maybe once they take it out of beta, but who knows what they'll do with it by then.

Today Firefox refused to show me Google Maps OR Mapquest. Only Chrome would do it right. Firefox is getting way too bloated. But I do love the web developer extensions.
