I've been without internet for two weeks now. Not because my connection was down, but because I was without keyboard.
See, I kind of sort of might have dumped an entire glass of water on my keyboard tray and it kind of sort of in a way but not really shorted it out. *smiles sheepishly*
So, new keyboard was ordered and the wait was on. It's been an interesting wait. I never realized just how dependent on the damn thing I was until I lost it. I couldn't even manage to use my Photoshop right because I'm so dependent on my shortcut keys.
And the LJ comments! It's one thing to be a lurker. It's quite another to read something fantastic you just HAVE to say something about. Only to find out that you CAN'T because you have NO KEYBOARD!!!
It's damn hard using a new keyboard, you know that? I feel like I'm taking a test with Principal Snyder hovering over my shoulder taking note of my every move. I keep making mistakes. *flails*

Date: 2007-03-20 12:06 am (UTC)heh my buddy tim who also works here had his bday on Thursday last week (we pretend we're bro and sis since we've known each other for 5-6yrs, went to college, and are 5 days apart in the same birthyear). His real sister brough him a cake from Cold Stone that had peanutbutter cups on top and cookie dough icecream inside. I just about DIED because whenever I go to ColdStone I always get the peanutbutter cups and cookie dough mixed in the icecream. Although tomorrow I'm getting the uber cake called Chocolate Crisper or something like that.... YAY!

Sad to say, but the highlight of my month was buying birthday presents for my niece and nephews upcoming birthdays (and they'll be cute as lil' bugs in the new outfits I got 'em).
Not much else it up for me. I'm looking for a new job. Gotten a wee bit political around here for me. Also got people wanting graphic arts odd jobs done that have been occupying my time. Weirdly enough, they're paying odd jobs. Bonus that, but less free time. *shrug*
Also? I'm home sick today. Speaking of peanut butter cups (which would make me sick about now), while on my shopping trip yesterday I found mini-Peanut butter cups for baking. They're not like the mini ones you have for snacking on. These babies are teeny tiny enough to bake into cookies. *bounce* Yeah, gonna make myself sicker with them when I get around to baking some.
Have I mentioned I've gotten a bit babbly today since I got the keyboard to play with? *gr*

Date: 2007-03-20 02:31 am (UTC)I'm doing okay. Just working... a lot. I've got a few (paying) graphics odd-jobs to work on in my spare time too. I'm gonna be looking for a new job here pretty soon though. Things are getting weird at work, and they're only going to get worse since there's been a takeover. Word has it even the big boss here won't work with the new people. So yeah, something in the state maybe. Definitely something with benefits. We shall see.
At the moment though I'm home sick. My stomach hates me.
How's things been going for you? I admit to being a bit out of the loop these days.

Date: 2007-03-20 03:49 pm (UTC)Things have been weird. I'm having my thyroid out next month, and they gave me jury duty 5 days later. I'll be recovering, plus Elizabeth needs someone to watch her, because Jeff had to get FMLA leave and it won't last long enough. Have you had a jury summons around here before? I had the surgeon's office send a letter, but they said it probably wasn't good enough. Grr.

Date: 2007-03-20 11:13 pm (UTC)I have indeed had jury duty. There isn't much you can do to get out of the first day. You're assigned a number. You'll have to call to make sure the number comes up. If not, you're off the hook. If it does, then you'll go in for the first day at least.
If you do end up going in, then you wait for them to call you for a case. When they do, you go in and sit in the audience and wait for them to call on you to answer questions about yourself and the case involved. There's a point where they'll ask you right off if you have anything going on in your life that's serious enough to warrant you not being able to serve. I would gather that your situation would qualify well enough. If the judge thinks it's a valid reason, they'll excuse you right away. If not, then you're stuck.
If you even get that far in the jury selection process, I don't really think you'll have a problem getting out of it. But, you've if you're called then you at least got to get to the first day to petition the judge about it when they ask. I'm not sure if at that point you'd need the surgeon's letter or not. *shrug*
