Hubby has been driving a cab for a new company here in town lately.  They drive cute little cars... Toyota Scion I think. He get the best fares sometimes. The other day he drove around the guy who owns some posh restaurant or another from California (Rustic Pelican, or Rusty Pelican, or something... there was a rusty bird involved somehow). Today was the best though...

It all starts out with a text message conversation:
Hubby: Who is flea?
Saifai: Guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Hubby: Are they playing here on the 15th?
Saifai: Yeah, they're in the Taco Bell Arena.
Hubby: They're at an electronics store.  I drove them.

I squee'd muchly, as I do adore Flea and Anthony Kiedis, but I didn't get a reply back.  Ten minutes later I get a phone call:
Hubby: So these four guys get in a cab dressed all weird... like, you wouldn't want to be seen in public with them weird.
Saifai: Okay.

The hubby then relates their conversation to me:
So Hubby ask them, "So what's with the weird getups?"
One of them says, "Oh, we're here for the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert."
Hubby blinks, "Oh."
They cock a collective eyebrow and one asks, "Are you familiar with their work?"
Hubby replies back, "Uh, not really.  I've heard a few songs and I like them alright."
One of 'em smiles and asks, "Have you ever seen them in concert?"
Hubby answers back honestly, "No."
They grin bigger and ask, "So you don't know what they look like?"
Hubby cocks his own eyebrow and answers, "No, I don't.  But my wife would."

The guy was apparently amused by this and asked him to call me and verify who Flea was, and that it was him. He'd told hubby if I could convince him he really was Flea then he'd autograph an album for him.

Of course, they took another cab home. But no big deal. I'm more amused at hubby. ::giggles::  He had no idea who they were.  *gr*  He met up with another of their crew, Gage or something, who told him they'd be in town for a couple days and might see him again.

Yeah, that's the place. Steve got his butt waxed there...ah, the memories.

BTW, I have a RHCP story of my own, but I am not sure I should share it... It might offend you.

::blinks:: I'm not sure I want to know. o.0

It might offend you.

Ah, those are the magic words my dear. If you have to say that, it's guaranteed to be a good story (good or ill will)

I was just going to reveal that, waaaaaaaay back in 1982 (I think it was '82, might have been a year earlier or later), I was part of a crowd that boo'ed them off the stage when they opened for Oingo Boingo. Who would have thought they'd still be around?

Oh, and one of the band members back then had a taste for REALLY underage girls and made a play for the VERY underage daughter of the drummer for Oingo Boingo, who I went to school with back then. She was wearing her pastel school uniform jumper, for pity's sake!

Ouch. I would have boo'ed them off the stage too, at least for that act. I certainly hope the band member has grown up a bit since then, but I doubt it.

I'm not familiar enough with their lives to get offended by the story. I'm a fan of the music is all. I didn't catch on to them until the 90's when they had a couple good hits. At the time I was totally in love with Anthony Kiedis because of his loooong hair.

I looove long hair. It's the first thing I notice on a person. Eyes come next. Anthony Kiedis was always my favorite though, along with Nuno Bettencourt. *happy sigh*

I truly miss the days of the "long-hair bands". *gr*

(...and yes, that's why I love Lord of the Rings. All those elves prancing around with pretty hair...)

I've always considered myslef pretty much a short hair girl. But the only guy I was ever in love with had hair halfway down his back...

You know it's funny, I'm exactly the opposite. I love long hair, but I've honestly only ever dated one guy with long hair. The rest all had short hair. My hubby has shirt military hair. I tried to get him to grow it long once, but he got sick of it one day and buzzed it off. LOL!
