Jul. 3rd, 2006 05:48 pmThat new Jessica Simpson song when I first heard it sounded like Madonna. It wasn't until the DJ came on afterwards and said, "No, that's not Madonna... it's Jessica Simpson" that I even realized it wasn't her. Someone from one of the gossip LJ comms posted a link that runs the song I thought it sounded like, "Holiday" by Madonna, back to back with Jessica Simpon's new song. Click here if you're curious. The similarites make me curious how this all came about. I seem to recall hearing somewhere that Jessica and Madonna were friends now, but I hadn't heard anything about a collaboration. *shrug*

In other news, a poll. I'm curious about something. I actually have a partial answer, which I'll get to, but I'm wondering who was used to seeing which version. The subject is Pop Rocks. You know, that candy you had in the 70s and 80s that is like little rocks that that fizz and pop in your mouth when you eat 'em?
I know you're all looking at me like WTF, but hear me out. A friend brought some to work for the hubby. He adores the stuff, just as much (if not more) than I do. It came with a freaky rocket shaped lolly pop. He set aside the lolly pop and promptly dumped the package into his mouth (it took him three goes to get the whole package downed).
This woman gaped at him and said, "You dummy, you're supposed to use the rocket pop to dip into the pop rocks to eat them." She gave him her best "Duh" look.
After giving her his best "What are you on and can I have some" look, and scoffs at her, "Since when?"
She gives him this smartass look and replies with this infuriatingly snide attitude (can you tell I don't like the woman?), "Since they were made, stupid. You're obviously too young to remember such things." That last comment of course had hubby puffing up all proud like because she'd misjudged his age by ten to fifteen years.
Hubby just rolled his eyes at her and said, "Well not where I grew they didn't."
So. Hubby and I discussed it, and I haven't ever seen this version that includes the rocket lolly pop dipper thingy. We looked it up and found that they come in both versions: the packets that include the rocket pop to dip into the pop rocks, and the plain old handful of pop rocks in a single Koolaid-type packet.
Which version do you remember? (question subject only to those that know what the hell I'm talking about)

Last, but certainly not least, I am losing my voice. I have gotten much better since Friday, but the coughing and hacking finally wore out the voice box. Yay! No yelling at kids after the 4th of July break! 0.o
