The Shopping Gene

Shopping.  I honestly don't like it.  I feel like such a traitor to my gender in that I don't find pleasure from spending.  Unlike Carrie on Sex in the City who says, "I like my money right where I can see it: hanging in my closet."  I just don't feel it.  I never have.

I think I have a faulty shopping gene.

Once when I was ten I found I had forty dollars.  People kept giving me money for gifts, not knowing what else to get me besides yet another pair of shoes for my Barbie (who came pre-installed with ShoppingGene v2.0), would give me money.  I didn't mind, but what was I going to buy with it?  I was ten.  The most I could hope for was a brand new pair of Nike and maybe a week's supply of pixie stix.

I told my mother about my savings.  She accused me of being frugal.  Looking back on it now, I would say that's a false statement.  I've never made a conscious effort to save my money.  I just don't often find something I really want to spend my money on.

Now, don't get me wrong.  There are occassions when I get a bug, as it were.  I just get this feeling slowly build up in me.  It's the feeling I get when I have finally seen something I want to buy, but I ignore it.  I can only ignore it so long before I can't take it any longer and give in and buy something.  Usually when this happens I've ignored the need to shop for so long that I shop in huge spurts.

There is a point to all this.  I'm starting to get that bug.  It's more like a virus really.  I have had my eye on a few things lately that I wouldn't mind having.  Some body products, some stuff to make my own, various clothing items, candles, shoes...

I must shop soon or I'm going to go mad.  *sigh*

First up, my forum is back in action.  I logged in today to find it had been hacked.  The changes they made were relatively minor considering past hacks I've had to the forum.  However, the changes they made took me several hours to correct.

In other news, taking into considering my last post about my shopping bug, I found a couple things I want.  I ever tell any of you about the makeup products I use?  Several years back I got a makeup kit.  It was supposed to be a lifetime supply.  Basically, the stuff doesn't use any animal by-products.  It's all natural pigment.  You can use the colors to mix eyeshadows, blushes, lipsticks, and more.  Very cool stuff actually when I found out upon later use that they last and last.  Even the pre-mixed lipsticks don't go rancid.  I can hoard my favorite lipsticks!

I'm going crazy with catalogs as of late.  Another one I got is the Pyramid Collection.  I used to get the catalog forever and a day ago.  I saw a friend with one the other day and immediately logged on and got their catalog sent to me.  I heart these people.  There's a bunch of clothes and jewelry I want in there.

There's also a few different companies that all have candles that I want.  WANT.  *bouncebouncebounce*

I'm going to go crazy.  I need this stuff.  *bouncebouncebounce*
