Freaky Controversy

saifaiMy apologies if anyone is offended by the nature of this post, so I'll warn you ahead of time that I'm mentioning Hitler.
I was watching a program on SciFi channel called, "Quest for Atlantis: Startling New Secrets" and was pretty well startled by some of the stuff that came out. There were two in particular that caught my interest.
The first one is something I've never heard before. The program said that Heinrich Himmler was given the duty by Hitler to find out more about the lost city of Atlantis.
They were looking for biological proof to back up their wild claims of superiority. Through their international search for secrets on this lost city, they believed they found the remains of an Atlantian off the coast of some island somewhere (I got into the show right in the middle so I didn't catch the locations). Anyway, by studying it they figured it looked rather Aryan to them. Of course their Aryan looks meant they must have been the perfect being especially considering they resembled their own nation of Aryans.
With that knowledge in hand, Heinrich Himmler set off on yet another mission to find out what happened the lost Atlantians. They believed they had discovered what happened to the lost city. Their research showed that they had been lost under water because of an iceberg or something (yet another detail I missed). They figured the Atlantians would have had time to flee their little island of paradise.
After a near global search, they thought they had found a people of Atlantian blood in a tribe in Tibet. These people of Tibet were measured and had casts of their faces done. Their measurements matched those of the lost Atlantian remains. They were evidence to Hitler and his mission that a superior being existed.
Armed with this newfound evidence they sought out to try and connect this Aryan Atlantian evidence to the people they had set their sights on. You know the rest of the story. Needless to say that they performed the same tests of measurement and comparison on the people they captured before anything else was done.
And all of it was done in part due to an obsession with the lost city of Atlantis. Bizarre, is it not?
In an equally as bizarre notion, another group of folks took quite an altogether different route to investigating the Atlantians. They too believe Atlantians are still alive in some form. But they kinda thought it was all part of an alien conspiracy to take over the planet.
o.0 Yup, no joke here. The lead man on te project says that the Atlantians infiltrated various government organizations and went about controlling our nations to force us into global chaos so they could destroy our planet. Why? They just want to go home. There was mention of the Free Masons (remember that money conspiracy from National Treasure?) and the Illuminati (from both Tomb Raider and The Da Vinci Code).
*blinkblink* It's all kinda freaky.
