The Old...
I'm tired of fighting with Nominet and the previous owner of my site. I can't get them to properly transfer ownership to my name. I bought it. I have the receipt. Yet I can't get the records changed into my name. Can't do a lot with that, especially if I ever decide to sell the site.
There's other things going on there. The domain is hard to work with, especially if I want to ever transfer to a new hosting service (which I desperately do). My domain sits on a seperate DNS nameserver from both the domain registrar and the site servers. It's completely whacked out.
The New...
So. I'm letting it expire come this October, and I've already purchased a new domain of the dot com variety: Saifai.net
I've got just a placeholder site up for now, but it's enough to get th ball rolling in terms of transferring my traffic to the other domain.
Email Hell, the Sequel
I've heard about something called an SPF record. You can set it up on your site to help combat people forging your site's email addresses in the spam they send. I've been getting quite a lot of it lately. I'm not sure how it will work, but we shall see.
I've also finally found the key to disabling certain spam heavy email addresses on my domain so that all mail is rejected. With the host I've got my servers on, it's harder than it looks (not the most user-friendly joint around).
I can't ever get the spam filters to work right, so I'll work around it by blocking the addresses. The only problem I think I'll come across is that I can't keep that up forever. I've got to create an account for each address, and then go back and set it to automatic disable. It's kinda weird.

That's it for now. I'm tired this morning. Got up extra early to take my Mom to the airport. She's on her way to Washington D.C. to attend some telecommunications conference thingy that the PUC she works for is sending her on.
*shrug* I'm off to go make some chocolate chip cookies. My hubby once again saw fit to use my cookies to bargain with. At the moment, I owe four of the mechanics one dozen cookies each.
*snerk* Hopefully I can bake enough to keep up with the amount I'm sure I'll eat...

Popfile *or, the octopus* is a sorter that 'learns'. You tell it inititally that these emails are 'inbox' type emails and that these emails are 'spam' type and it learns and sorts stuff accordingly afterward. You can have all sorts of seperate email files. I have 'inbox' and 'trash' but you could have 'work' 'livejournal' 'family', for example, pretty infinite, i guess.
Just thought i'd pass it along. :)
