Will Smith was right.

Parents really don't understand.
Had a fight with my mother bright and early this morning. She was checking up on me to see if I was going to work or not. Of course I wasn't due to my duties to the aforementioned porcelain god.
She oh so subtly suggested I do everything possible to get myself to work that day. o.0 WTF? Yeah, we had words.
I basically told my mother to shove it. I told her, "Mom, don't go there. Just... don't." The argument just went from there.
Hubby tried to comfort me. He said, "Reason number one that anything you tell your mother comes back to bite you on the ass." So, so true (there's a whole 'nother story there involving my supervisor having a mini-conference with me over my current health state and my absences this year).
Basically, I boiled it down to parents all having their "thing" that they can never resist bugging you about. He also confessed to me that his father did it to him recently over the prison job he was going for. As it turns out his father said to him about it, "You know, why don't you just stick it out with the job you have now? You never finish anything. They're good to you and they pay well. Besides, I've heard stories about those guards making underhanded deals with the prisoners."
Holy Hannah, no wonder the boy has a personality disorder. Did a lot of mental ranting with that one (hubby already knows my opinion and probably didn't need to hear it again). First, his job isn't good to him. In fact, they suck hairy monkey balls. Second, hubby's position is underpaid by at least half the national standard (and by two thirds of the state standard). Third, way to have confidence in your child there boyo. *shakes head* Does he even realize he just told him he thinks he'll immediately cave and become some currupt prison guard criminal?
Yeah, probably more information than you needed. I'm just so upset at the moment that I don't know what to do with myself. To make things worse, after my fight with Mom I got dizzy. Dizzy lead to a migraine from hell. It didn't take me a half hour after that before I passed out and went back to sleep for a couple hours (which yeah, that reaction scared me). I ended up with nightmares of all my family members and friends cutting and running after that.
Grr. So don't want to talk to Mom anytime soon. Father-in-law is off my Christmas list too.
I'm cheering myself up at the moment with chocolate chips (forget the cookies, just gimme the chips). I'm also reading some Doom/BtVS crossover thingy. It's actually a pretty good fic if it wasn't for the whole Angel, Spike, and Dru get dusted within the first chapter (Ethan and Snyder kicked it too). I know, I know... I'm bad. But it's the price I pay just to read a kick-ass!Xander (totally AU and OOC what with Xander meeting his real Dad and knowing three different languages and being Italian).
*shrug* Call it self-flagellation if it makes you feel better.
