Had another class tonight. This time we learned about irrigation. Not entirely as uninteresting as it sounds. Too bad I won't have a lawn to use all these things I'm learning about. I'm moving out at the end of next month.

Don't know yet where we're going. If [livejournal.com profile] hifalutin_eagle's business thing goes through, we'll buy a house somewhere in the valley. If not, then we'll just get a little condo or something. More on that soon.

I've finally made a decision about the next sci-fi show to feature at Saifai.co.uk. I've been giving some thought to which I want to do now that Angel is endng. Because it's a current show, it's been hard for me to add any other shows at this time since there's always something new to update. And I'm always behind. Anyway, once I'm all caught up with everything (which since I'm moving looks like I'll have to put off any major updates until after the summer is over), I'll be adding in the Star Trek series.

I met a lady here (well actually, [livejournal.com profile] hifalutin_eagle met her and directed her my way) that's a trekker. I got a lecture about trekkie vs. trekker. She's a trekker. She's the head cheese of trekkers. Anyway, she's got me convinced that's the next major installment I need to add to the site.

Raise your Spock ears if you agree...

Oh, and on that sci-fi note, considering the name of my journal (which in case you haven't figured out by now is a funky spelling of sci-fi) I added "alien eyes" to my icon. Hubby says he liked the evil blue eyes better, but I figured these were more appropriate. Comments?

I can say with only a marginal amount of shame that the "saifai" thing didn't occur to me until you mentioned it just now.

I'm *that slow*.

Also, I like the alien eye. Less realistic. I actually have a classmate whose eyes are that blue (apparently it's contacts, but he looks the same every day, so to me his eyes are that blue). Interesting aside: he's a male stripper.

Nah, there's no shame in it. Hubby likes to call me "Say Faye" just to be funny. I think that's probably the most common, though. I always figured if I ever showed up at a convention I'd have to wear a t-shirt with the name printed on it otherwise people wouldn't get it... *snerk*

Anyway, thanks for the comments on the icon. I kind of like these better too. Less like me.

*perks up at the mention of stripper* Stripper you say? Fun. Got me curious now what his natural eye color is...

I knew how to *pronounce* saifai so that it's like sci fi, in my head, but I'm just slow enough that I put two and two together and got three.

I think the stripper's eyes are naturally brown, because of his ethnic background, but they could actually be *regular* blue if one looks at what's-his-face from CSI. You know, the black dude. His eyes are blue. Stripper's eyes are a WAY different blue, but still, they could be blue.

Er...I think?

*raises her Spock ears*

I've always been a Star Trek fan. I grew up on TNG because my parents were huge fans of the show. So it's always been very much a part of my life pop-culture wise.

With that said what the hell is the difference between Trekkie and Trekker? I've always used Trekkie just because I like the sound of it more. lol

My mom was a big fan too, so I guess I could say it's been a part of my pop-culture life too.

Heh. The difference between Trekkie and Trekker? I'm with you in that I've always said the former because it sounds better, but I guess there is a difference. The woman is a fanatic, in the true sense of the word. Anyway, she says that a Trekkie is someone who enjoys the series a great deal and may even attend conventions, but they're not crazy people. She says that Trekkers are just insane, and speak to each other using conversational Klingon. More than likely they'll also have a selection of costumes (at least one original) in their closets as well.

I've got to see this woman's house.

So there is a clarification! lol! Well, in that case I'm definitely a Trekkie. Because I can't say I've ever owned a costume and the extent of my klingon is...well...I think I may have once upon a time knew a word or two. I was never an uber-crazy Trek fan. Just someone who really enjoyed the show, and counts it as a favorite.

Yay! I get a point! When [livejournal.com profile] gailadora asked me how I would pronounce your username I said, "Like sci-fi, only spelled funky". ^_^_v
