I'm going to do Nano this year.  I know, I know... where will I ever find the time between work, and school, and family time?  Wel, best I can figure if I cut out all my extracurricular reading (ie reading fanfic) and cut down my sleep to two hours a night... I just might be able to pull it off.

So yeah, I'm not gonna pull it off.  Did I happen to mention I don't have a plot yet?

Right, so that plot issue.  My brain, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to help me cycle through the random plots spinning through my brain.  I've been having story dreams again.  Every night for the past week I've been having them.  My only problem is that they aren't complete enough to make any sense of them.

For example, last night I had a dream where there's this thing with the thing and there's some world domination thing.  There's these people, two tribes in New Zealand to be exact, that live off docks and ward off outsiders with shotguns like they're from the Appalachians in West Virginia or something.  Only there's this cute hunky Maori guy who was born there and went off to college and became a professor and now is back to try and save the day that managed to get back in without getting hurt.  And somewhere in there is these people, probably aliens, that have some plot to destroy the world with this thing for something... or something.

You can see the problem, right?  *nods*  Doesn't make a lick of sense to me either.

*sigh*  Oh well.  At least this time I'm planning on making the most of it.  I think I'll take advantage of any regional meetings going on here and see if I can make some new friends while I'm at it *waves to [livejournal.com profile] fantomeq*.  That's a good thing, right?  I thought so too.

Anyone else going for it this year?

I support world domination all the way. Don't you just love how a dream is the greatest thing ever at 3 am and then makes no sense in the morning?

Ooh yeah. I wake up all excited thinking, "This is the best plot EVER!" And then five minutes later it doesn't make any sense. LOL

I find it especially weird when I write it down and can't even tell what it's supposed to say.

Oh yeah. I've done that a time or two. Even if I manage to write it in story form, when I re-read it I'm like, "What the hell is this supposed to mean?!" *shrug* Go figure.

I have three or four stories that way. I'm stubbornly clinging to one for NaNo about an invisible castle tower in a hotel that lets you go back in time. Yep, still doesn't make sense. *Headdesk*

LOL. I got a couple of those to fall back on should my brain fail me in turning out a decent plot. One is a vaguely Peter Pan based character that saves the universe from evil body stealing aliens. o.0 It was either that or the Missing Gold Egg Caper. *shrug*

See, somehow it makes sense in our befuddled brains, and it seems like it should work as a story! :)

National Novel Writing Month, or NanoWrimo for short. From November 1st to the end of the month you do your best to write 50,000 words.

Ah yes, I *have* heard of that. I never checked it out until today though.

... I think I'm going to do it. You've talked me into it! My insanity is going to be ALL YOUR FAULT.

Sadly? I already have a plot. This is what happens when one has four novels dancing in her head.

Also? I put you on my friends list on the site! Whee! I have far too much free time at work!

Heeeeee!

Nah. I just need to figure out some damn *plot*. I've only got enough for like a week of writing. Blah.

That's my big stumbling block - i don't do outlines or anything, and a lot of the time the plot just kind of 'happenes'. But if i'm coming up blank, plot-wise... Very hard.

:)

Yup. Got no plot here either. I got plenty of ideas, but nothing concrete.

I am however the Outline Queen. If there's anything I could possibly do to make myself feel like I'm accomplishing something without actually do anything, I will be more than willing to do it. I fill out my characters, outline the events, make up the story arc connection dealies.

And then I write it and that all goes to shit. *gr*

Basically, right now I'm... well, did you ever see that Disney cartoon where Donald Duck is trying to explain how the human body works? And he's going through thought process in the brain? And he shows the brain where there's this big dark room with lots of file cabinets and they're covered in cobwebs and there's moths flying around and it echoes?

Yeah. That's my brain right now.

Heeeee! I hated outlines in school, so i *never* do them now. I just sit around, staring blankly into space. Or i think of stuff while vacuuming or driving.

Right now, i've got my main guy, his employees, his new 'friend' who's prolly gonna be more, and our hero's brother, who is dead. And their grandmother, who was a warbride. And i know histories and i know names and i know places and all that...

I just can't decide, does he stay where he's at, or is there a small road trip involved? And what's the whole *point* of the story??

Heeee. I so suck at plot. But - eventually - it'll come to me!

I hope. 1,667 words a day isn't hard, but actual words that mean something and give me a place to go from the *next* day...hard.
Heh.

The blank stare. I do that quite frequently. Hubby mentioned about the first year I did this that I spent a lot of time on the computer typing. I told him yes it was true, however most of that was spent sitting there staring at a blank screen waiting for inspiration to strike. LOL

I'm rather the same way with mine. I got an idea for scenes, and rought sketches for characters. But absolutely no point to the story. :)

We shall see...

Hehehe. YEah. Kind of skeery if you don't know - i suspect i'd get a lot of 'are you all right?' if i wrote in public.

Yeah, no story point, just...telling. Heh. We'll see how that goes.

I'm with you and the crazy NaNoWriMo challenge again this year, Saifai! Plot? Who needs a plot?! Sleep? We don't need no stinkin' sleep!! *Yawn* Well, um, ok, we do.

Good luck! :O)
