I've learned an important lesson this week.  Communication is the key to success.  Well at least when it comes to team projects for school.  Our team obviously didn't communicate like it should have.  Either that, or we just didn't get the messages across right. 

Just got a look at the part of the project the other half of the team was supposed to work on.  Couple things wrong with it.  First?  There are some words spelled wrong.  Second?  It doesn't follow the paper I wrote.  Third?  There's no logic to it.  (hence the reason to follow the paper in the first place)  Fourth?  Would it make sense to anyone else to me that when you have bulleted items, you would add them each to the page one at a time (meaning four seperate frames for four items) rather than putting them all up in one frame?  Yeah, me too. 

Our presentation is tomorrow.  Our final meeting is in an hour and a half.  I'm going to have to make last minute changes.  *sigh*  To quote Nick Cage's character from Honeymoon in Vegas, "I'm in Whymea."

The problems with your group project are why I nearly always insist on working alone when I can. This spring in my grad class, the professor wanted us to work in groups or partners, and I went around the room listening to everyone's topics and I deliberately settled on a topic that no one else wanted. So, I was able to explain to her that I was totally married to my topic and no one else wanted to do it.

Everyone else had mucho problems because they were working together, but they weren't communicating at all.

I ended up with the best grade in the entire class, and I had to do a humongous project all alone. I was glad to do it to get my way.

I'm very stubborn and I hate it when I have to count on others to do their part.

When I was an undergrad, I had group project to do in speech, I think. Anyway, we'd meet at the library, and one of the guys would just sit there doing his sit down stand up comedy routine, and we'd all laugh. We divided the tasks for the project, and I knew the clown and his lackies weren't going to do their part. I knew it.

The day of out presentation, sure enough, he didn't show up. It turned out, he'd gotten in a car wreck on the way to school, supposedly. (I saw him the next semester, and he was fine.)

Anyway, the professor was so sympathetic and gullible, he graded just our parts of the project and gave everyone in the group a grade. We all got As. I was relieved, but kind of pissed because I was sure he and his friends never did anything. Every time we'd ask to see their work in progress, they'd have next to nothing.

Ah, the lovely points of working in teams. You know it's really too bad that someone like that didn't participate. I'm sure with their attitude they could have contributed something fun to the project. *shrugs*

I just hope my next class has a project that goes better. I guess every time I go through this is a learning process, ya' know?

You're right, most of the problems between human beings exist due to the lack of communication. While reading your post, it looked like we worked at the same place. *le sigh*
