Been a bit off weather lately. My time of the month is here for one, stomach problems on top of that (both of which make the migraines worse). Been trying to take it easy, and not been sleeping well to boot (it's been so hot here).

Took some sleeping pill last night (Ambien), which you may by now that it makes me act funny sometimes (not always, but maybe more than half the time). I try to stay off the internet, away from people, and turn my phone off just before I take some (to prevent weird conversations). However last night I ended up being a bit productive. I don't remember doing any of this, but here's what I woke up to:
  • One tan leg (what product I used to achieve that I don't know)
  • Found all of the single and pairs of shoes I'd thought I lost and haven't been able to find for ages
  • Managed to find all the left socks I lost, in addition to odd towels and sheets and filled up a laundry basket with it (where I found them, I've no idea)
  • Rearranged the fish tank area, and apparently did some maintenance to the tank itself (added the chemicals, changed filter, refreshed the water, etc.)
  • Started cleaning out my bathroom cupboards and drawers (there's a couple packed boxes I need to go through stacked in my shower of all places)

I think that's about it. If there's more, I haven't found it. Sad thing is, I don't remember doing much else other than washing my face and heading to bed to read for awhile before sleeping. Apparently I got bored?

    *snerk*

  • My cat, old man Ring, fell off the second landing and onto the stairs on the floor below. I'm not sure what he hit first, but when I ran down the stairs to see to him he was on his feet. He walked back up on his own too. He was a bit shaken up, but seems none the worse for wear. We've blocked off the railing over the stairs now.

  • Found some new (to me) information on migraines from Migraine.org (though I see the site is down, so the wayback version is here). Stuff that I've always suffered through, but never been able to definitively connect to anything. Now I've got answers.

For example, all five of our senses can be particularly sensitive. I thought my reaction to strong perfumes (wicked nasty migraine) was an allergy. It's far more likely it's just a trigger for migraines (splitting hairs, but it makes a difference in what medications I take to control it).

If you are, or think you are, a migraine sufferer I suggest reading through that information.

  • I've been working my way through the Ancient Aliens series. Whether you're a skeptic or a believer, there's stuff in there for you. Fascinating information regardless. They lay out the facts, and then offer differing opinions on what that means exactly. They lead in a particular direction, of course. But it's all interesting. Stuff about history I'd never realized before (stuff they don't tell you in school).

    *****

That's about it for now. I'm currently roasting alive here. My voice still isn't recovered from my recent Laryngitis. I can talk, but my voice gives out easily. It dries out fast and makes me start coughing. Can't sing worth a crap anymore. So, so frustrating.

So what's going on with the rest of you?

Injured my knee yesterday. Trying to stay off it today. Harder than it sounds though. The oddest movements make it hurt.

Now you probably wondering how I hurt it. I'd like to say I did it while mountain climbing, or even dancing all night. But no, I did it sitting.

    *snerk*

Actually, I think it was just strained from when I'd crossed my legs at the ankle and left it that way for an hour (in a hard metal chair I might add). I'd had to have someone cover my Sunday school class because I've still got laryngitis. I didn't have anything better to do at church, so I just sat in on the lesson.

Sitting. Can you believe that? Call it a lesson learned.

The last time I took prescription medication was a couple few years ago when I had a UTI and was given a sulfa-based antiobiotic. Major adverse reactions. The medication they gave me to combat the pain I was also allergic to as it turns out.

Have not taken any prescribed medications since then. Have also had 3 infections since then and have treated it with cranberry juice and vitamin c. I'm absolutely terrified of taking meds again for fear of having another serious reaction to something.

Mom's been Googling it though and found that leaving a UTI untreated multiple times can lead to kidney damage. Unsuprisingly I was dragged to the doctor.

I didn't start any fights with the medical personal. I did however scowl fiercely the entire time.

No reactions to the new antibiotics yet, other than being ridiculously tired. It's making me feel really slow too. Like my brain is working at half speed.

LOL - Got my mom freaked out though. She's going to check on me in the morning to ensure I'm not having serious adverse reactions to the meds.

    Cross your fingers for me!

    P.S.
On a side note, I'm in love with their height scale. According to their ruler I've grown an entire inch for the first time in 25 years. Yay!

We've got Spring cleanup in the city right now. The city trash has given us two weeks to get the extra stuff out there. I would have started last week, but my mother and I were both sick.

So. I was all set to go out today. I got my gardening gloves on. I packed my gardening tool bag. I was determined to at least clean one flower bed.

Put one foot out the door into the cold and minutes away from snowing weather and turned right back around.

    ...

Might have been a good thing in the end. I was feeling rather dizzy all day. I ended up spending my time reorganizing my bookmarks.

    Television

On a side note, my Mom and I have taken a break from watching our regular TV shows. On Netflix we've made our way through Miss Marple, are working on Murder She Wrote now, and will be trading off with Touch of Frost soon.

Love murder mystery shows. :D We've got plans to start on Poirot after we're done with Touch of Frost.

  • Been feeling under the weather the past two days. Though my dizzy spells have never abated the migraines have been off and on. Yesterday I had severe migraines pretty much all day. Today it was being sick to my stomach.
  • Getting more comfortable in my paranormal investigation group. It's rather hard for me to come out of my shell. I'm trying to make a point of socializing more, and not isolating myself so much. I know I'm never going to come out of my depression if I don't take steps to protect myself. So, out of the hobbit hole I come.
  • Been watching a few films on Netflix during the day while I'm working. One in particular just tickled me. I wasn't all that impressed with the quality of the film, as I thought the plot very... incomplete. However, it was a treasure to see wee little baby-faced Colin Firth, Rupert Everett, and Cary Elwes. A film from way back in 1984 titled "Another Country". Best bit of it is that it takes place at an all boys school, in England, and Rupert's boyfriend is Cary. *squee*
  • Colored my hair a different shade than usual. Went with medium reddish brown, which on my already dark hair turns out more like a black henna color. It's black, but with a red tint. Of course, my grey hairs turned out a reddish brown, so it's got an odd highlighting to it. Not sure I like it, but it's good for now.

That's it for now. Time to rest a bit and see if that doesn't make me feel a bit better.

Hope everyone else's day/week/month/year have been going well.

In other news, my mouth is numb. Oh, and now so are my lips. Tasted something odd in my tea. Hope it wasn't bad!

Also, had a weird dream last night of an alien invasion. The mother ship had fighter jets to cull the people. Fighter jets in the shape of giant bananas. They would shoot bananas at people to knock them out. Why yes, I do have weird dreams. Why do you ask? o.O

Nothing serious to update, so it's just a bit of what I've been up to this week.

  • I've got eczema, and it's been flaring up a bit on my face. Basically, it makes my skin super dry and flaky in random spots. Incidentally, it also makes me very sensitive to just about everything. It's hard for me to find a product that won't flare up my dry skin rashes. I ordered some CeraVe PM to see how it'll work for me. Heard good things about it, so we'll see.

  • Finally finished off the fudge cake I made for Christmas. Unfortunately, I finished it off in one go. Normally not a problem seeing as I ate a piece and a half. However, I've found I strongly allergic to it (flares up my milk and chocolate allergies). So, spent the whole night sick. Was it worth it? Hell yes. :)

  • Trying to get caught up on random chapters of stuff people have written. Reading it from various fandoms. I've been sick since before Thanksgiving, off and on, so I've not been doing much. I had more squirreled away than I thought though, so it's slow going.

  • Speaking of being sick, I've been holding off editing more chapters of my Nano HP Lucius/Harry story because of said illness. Oddly, I've got a strong reaction from readers over this story, even with just one chapter. People keep pinging me with requests to do more, and I've just not felt up to it at all. I'm finally getting over whatever it was that was bothering me though, so hopefully I can pump out another chapter soon.

That's it for now! I'm off to get some work done. Try to stay warm. Hope everyone's week has been going well so far. :)

    Health
Almost, but not quite, driving by this time. My mom's been sick. Had some test done, didn't react well. Test turned out okay, but found out some long-term health problems she's got. They're not serious, but enough to make her day to day life hell.

I've been sick too. Haven't been able to shake it. I'm tired all the time. I've had a lingering fever. My migraines are worse. I'm starting to get a bit better. I'm going from sleeping 12 hours or more to 9 or so now.

    Christmas
My mother and I are making all our gifts this year, which is why we're on the way out the door. We're heading out to the craft and beading store to pick up supplies. We're doing candles, jewelry, craft totes, gift baskets, book bags and jeweled bookmarks. Things like that. We've got a ton of baking to do now too.

That's about all for now. How's everyone else getting ready for the holidays?

So many things going on right now, both online and off. RL is a bit tense sometimes (and not just a bit of a mess), so I won't get into it. I'd rather take my mind off it. So on that note, I shall ramble.

    New Tokio Hotel Single
I love this. The sound reminds me a bit of 90s retro. It's on the "Best Of" german deluxe album.

ETA: And while we're on the subject, the Kaulitz twins did an ad for PETA (the photos were done to bring notice to the subject of cruelty to animals in captivity, though I'll freely admit seeing these two in chains just makes my muse cackle with glee)...

    New Fandom Minion
My mother, bless her heart, has become a bit addicted to digital stories of the fan fiction variety. She's a fanatic of the written word, in general. However, lately her interests have taken a turn. I've been sharing with her my thoughts on funny or interesting stories I've read. Got her started out on some Harry Potter, then ventured into crossovers.

She's now discovered her favorite fandom: NCIS.

Not sure how that happened, and just a bit boggled by it. But there you have it. She loves Mark Harmon's character Gibbs.

    NanoWrimo
I'm ridiculously behind on my word count. My health got in the way big time. But I've got a really good outline, ideas coming out my ears, and determination. So I'll get it finished, even if it does carry me over beyond November. I'm excited about my first ever writing adventure beyond the scope of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom. So it shall be written. Someday.

    Thanksgiving Snow
We gots snow, and lots of it. And it's freakin' cold! My mom and I got sick of the traditional faire for our Thanksgiving Meal, so with the exception of the Turkey we're cooking all new recipes this year. I'll do another post on that a bit later with links to the recipes. But we're doing Pumpkin Dessert squares instead of pie, pull-apart cornmeal rolls instead of crescent rolls, mashed sweet potatoes with toasted pecans, citrus and cranberry salad, and apple bacon stuffing muffins. I'm really excited to try them all out!

Ooh! And for breakfast that day I'm making breakfast migas, which is done in the slow cooker overnight. Yummy!

    ***

That's all for now folks. If I don't hear from you again until after the holidays, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend!

Never thought going to bed early would totally throw off my routine.

Had an early night of it last night. Went to bed at 9pm. Woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed at 2am.

    *sigh*

I forced myself back to sleep at 3am. Kinda thinking it was a mistake. I feel so... worn out. Yet wide awake at the same time. I'm yawning, but my eyes are wide open. Feel like I should lay down for a week. But my eyes won't close.

No more early nights for me.

On a side note, I've joined a new ghost hunting group. It's the TAPS family member group for my area. Really looking forward to getting my feet back in the game! Been out of it for about a year now since my previous group disbanded.

Doing much better with my migraines this week. Time off has helped a bit. What's made a huge difference though, oddly enough, is my vitamins. I switched to a different formula, added in Vitamin D on top of it, and instantly my energy is increased and my migraines decrease.

I went nerdy over it and did a comparison chart over the differences between the two and found a few things that may have made a difference. If my suspicions are correct, I may be sensitive to vitamin C. Not allergic per se, just more susceptible to the side effects of having too much. There were a few other factors in there, but that's the major item of note.

In other news, I finally got ahold of a copy of the second episode of Sherlock. Still loving it. A few flisties have got better sources than I, so I'm anxiously awaiting the third episode. Damn the BBC website for locking out US viewers of their online episodes. Grr!

Not much else going on other than I'm considering a move. Not going very far, just thinking about moving my bedroom into the fridge. Mom's been fighting me over it, so we'll see how that goes. OMGSOHOT!!11!
