Okay got another ghost story since y'all asked so nicely. This one is mine. It's a bit of a long story, so I'll just give you the short version.
I've always been interested in all things paranormal. Ever since I did my science fair project when I was 9 on psychic abilities, I'd wanted to be a Parapsychologist. I suppose it was just a natural progression for me when I was in highschool to become interested in Ouija boards. I'd asked my Mom about them, but never got any straight answers out of her.
My friend and I saved up our allowances and she bought one at the toy store. We went to her house one day after school and decided to give it a whirl. We didn't really take it seriously. I'd always believed that the story we created through the board was something my friend made up. I still do in fact. You know how teenagers are, how life for them is always a soap opera. Anyway, we'd had a story come through the board of a WW1 soldier who was stuck between this world and the next.
We visited the board on more than one occasion, and the story grew each time. I really only thought of it as fun. I mean it's a game right? Well thing about these boards though, is that they're like a portal to the other side. I never really believed that though until I started having problems. I first noticed something wasn't right when the downstairs became about 20 degrees colder than the rest of the house. We would usually play down in the living room down there, and incidentally my bedroom was also in that lower level.
Weird things started happening to me over a few weeks. It was just little things here and there, but they gradually grew worse. It started with just noticing things out of the corner of my eye. Things would move, and I'd look and everything was fine. I'd see someone walking by and turn to see nobody there. I would hear voices, like from a radio, only there was more than one voice. Like the stations had mixed. Only all the audio equipment, and the TV, was off.
I told my friends about things happening to me and we decided it might be best to get rid of the board. That's when things got worse. The first time I set it out with the trash. It was on my coffee table the next night. I gave it to one of my friends to get rid of herself, and it ended up in the back of my car three days later. I started to get freaked out, and I started seeing more things at home.
One day after school, my friends and I had gathered in my kitchen to discuss how we might be able to get rid of the board. As we were sitting at the kitchen table, which sat in front of the breakfast bar and across from the stairway to the upstairs bedrooms, I saw something on the stairs. It was just out of the corner of my field of vision. I saw something kneal down and peak below the edge of the ceiling there at the top of the steps. I looked up quickly to see if it was a cat, trying to convince myself that's what it was, but the lithe man in black just gave me a creapy smile and jumped up. I stood up and made my way to the stairway only to just see him dissapear around the corner towards the bedrooms. I ran up, like the doof that I am, to see if anyone was up there. Of course, I didn't find anyone.
I was completely freaked out about it by then, and we called in the big guns. A friend of mine called a friend of his, who's mother is really superstitious. She instructed us to bring the board to her and she would burn it for us. They left my house to go back home, leaving me alone for the rest of the afternoon before my family got home.
I must have sat in the dining room just off the kitchen for about an hour, too freaked out to do anything more. I was looking out the front window in the dining room when I heard a noise. I looked over to the living room, which I could see through the open doorway in the dining room. The front sitting room was across the entry way on the other side of the front of the house. There in the open entryway to the living room was a man. Well, it was more like an invisible man really. You all ever see Predator? I that film, the alien has a cloaking device that renders him invisible. You can still see him, but whatever behind him shows a distortion in the air. That's what this person looked like. I was so freaked out, my blood just ran cold. He just stood there shifting from foot to foot, tilting his head this way and that, as if he was studying me. I finally gathered enough wits to run to the far back wall of the dining room and huddle myself in the corner. By the time I got to sitting on the floor hugging my knees, whatever it was had vanished.
The next day after school we drove out to this lady's house to burn the board. Everything seemed to go fine. It took a really long time to burn, but when it finally did, we buried it. I still had experiences now and then in the house, which I won't get into at the moment, but they were much the same. They just didn't happen as often.
My parents decided to move to California at the end of that year. I had to pack up my belongings to take them over to the local college dorm, as I decided to stay behind and attend college here rather than move back to the coast with them. On one Saturday afternoon as I was packing my bedroom, I was working on packing up my CD collection. I walked out to the living room entertainment center down there to gather the CDs left out by the stereo. As I was going through the collection sorting out my CDs, the TV turned on by itself.
The hair on the back of my neck stood on end from that. I turned behing me and grabbed the TV remote off the coffee table and turned the TV off. I set it back on the coffee table and turned to leave the room. Before I even got to the other side of the room, the TV had turned back on. I stopped in my tracks at that, and just went over and unplugged the damn thing. I didn't want to deal with it anymore.
When I turned back around to walk back into my room, there sitting in the middle of the coffee table where the remote had been was the pointer from the Ouija board. I eventually found the TV remote later that day stuffed behind the entertainment center.
That's the best one in my arsenal. If anyone wants to hear another one, let me know and I'll get it out before midnight.
