1) Why do you read fanfic?
An excellent question. Part of my answer relates to the second question, but it started out to answer questions. I saw ideas and questions come up in shows I was watching, and explored the answers through other's writing. These days, it's more of an escape. Same reason I read any other book. For entertainment value. There's still that part of me that will read to answer questions, but I find the answers come from the hive mind of fandom and I don't have to actively search them out much these days.

2) When did you read your first fanfic and which fandom was it for?
I read my first fanfic... well, at least as long ago as my first post in this journal in 2003, but I think it goes further back. Probably shortly after the 6th season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. So, 8 or 9 years ago and in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer fandom.

3) Which fandoms do you, or have you, read?
I started out with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which lead to Angel. I moved on to reading a bit of everything else including Supernatural, Lord of the Rings, Predator (AvP), Riddick, X-Men, Stargate Series, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Doctor Who, Torchwood, and Tokio Hotel. I'm sure there's others I've dabbled in, but I don't remember them all.

4) Do you also write fanfics or do you only read?
I write as well. I first started writing though after being prodded by a few people. I'm sure it had something to do with them not giving into my demands to write my plot bunnies for me. I'm fairly certain [livejournal.com profile] txrabbit was one of them.

5) What do you enjoy the most when reading? (dialogue, descriptions, plot, characterizations, humour, angst...)
There's a lot of answers to that one, and not all of them are clean. *coughpr0ncough* I enjoy good characterization, dialogue, schmangst, and plot. I've gotten pickier over the years with that sort of thing. Mainly I'm looking at the interaction between certain characters. How's the chemistry (and not just in a sexual way)?

6) Which genres do you mainly read? (action, angst, dark, drama, horror, humour...)
I'll read just about anything, though I prefer drama. Mix in a bit of action, angst, darkness, kink, and humor and you've got it made.

7) Which genres will you not read?
I have areas I'm not comfortable reading, but there are exceptions to every rule. I have a lot of trouble reading angst if all it's got is pain. It's gotta hurt good ([livejournal.com profile] tabaqui, [livejournal.com profile] yin_again, and [livejournal.com profile] lazuli_kat are good at this). I tend not to read a straight-out romance unless it's got something else to it. As much as I like the darkness and kink, I tend to shy away from all out violence against a character for no good reason. If it's involved in the story in some integral way, then yes. For personal reasons, I also tend not to read anything to do with adultery (unless of course my favorite boys characters aren't paired together from the start, then it's okay... LOL)

8) Is giving reader comments/responses important?
Yes. Though I tend to be very bad at that. I always think of a response, then I get side-tracked and forget what I was doing. Short attention span and all that. Though I do think it's important, I suppose coming from someone who loves getting feedback. I try to give it as well.

9) Do you give concrit?
Only when asked. People write their stories how they will. It's very rare that I'll offer something up without having been prompted for it.

10) Which is your favorite character to read fanfic for and why?
If you would have asked me that question a couple years ago, I would have told you Spike. I'm tending towards more Xander-centric stories these days (both from Buffy the Vampire Slayer). He's the guy that I can read with anyone, and in any situation. When I'm dipping my toes into a new fandom, I'll look for crossovers first that involve him in some way.

11) Which are your favorite ships (including friendships) that you read the most?
I started out as a Spike/Buffy fan. Quickly moved on to Spike/Xander and remain faithful. I've got favorites in every fandom, like in Harry Potter: Malfoycest (especially Lucius/Draco), Harry/Any Male (though I favor him with Severus, Draco, Bill, Charlie, Weasley Twins, and Lucius). I love it when Ron is a good friend to Harry, and not the jerk. In Supernatural, I can't help but want to read Wincest, though I have been interested in Dean/Castiel lately. Yautja/Human (Predator). Lord of the Rings: Legolas/Any Male (I'm not picky), though I tend to favor Legolas/Haldir and Legolas/Aragorn. I'm still exploring the other fandoms and read quite a bit of everything. I don't read much Het these days, though I do have favorite authors and will read anything they offer up (het included).

12) Do you read WIP's or finished fanfics only?
I love to read finished ones, but my short attention span and impatience often demands that I start with the WIPs too. I'll read both.

13) Drabbles, One-shots or Multi-chapters?
I tend not to read one-shots as much because I always want more. I love multi-chaptered fics better. Drabbles are great though, and there are some fantastic authors that truly excel in this area.

14) And added so there wasn't an unlucky 13 questions, I added this final question: What are your favorite kinks?
I love when the character is not entirely human. Not just vampires, werewolves, and elves, but other things as well. Tentacles? Bring it on. Got cat ears and a prehensile tail? Even better. Got hooves for feet and horns? I'm so there. I love a bit of D/s now and then. Some pairings just call for it by nature. Biting is great. The sharper the teeth the better. Love it when they're good with weapons, but most especially if they favor knives. *drools* I know, I'm weird like that. Love it when they have special powers, and especially when they find new and creative ways to use said powers on their friends and loved ones. *wiggles eyebrows*
