Wow. I just got my first nomination. I rewrote one of my older stories in order to get it ready for posting to my new profile at AFF.net. It's been nominated. *coughthankyou

I'm entirley speechless. I'm just so... surprised? Not sure if that's the right word. Anyhow, thank you very much.

Now for a bit of RL drama. It all started when the future ex-hubby (hereafter referred to as FEH) had
The How
We had a blizzard in town. FEH was driving out of town on a job. The road cleared up just outside of town. He sped up to suit the new dry roads. Unfortunately, he discovered as he was coming over a hill going upwards of 70 that a certain part of the road he was passing over was a high wind area.
Spinning out of control ensued.
He tried to get control of the vehicle, but it ended up in a spin. He spun all the way over to the left side of the road. As soon as he hit the dry gravel on the side of the median, he started flipping. He rolled his truck five times.
He flipped five times, side over side, to land fifteen feet from oncoming traffic in the other direction.
The What
He landed kinda sort upside down. He landed upside down, but on the upside of the embankment. He woke up a few minutes later to a little spanish speaking guy (who incidentally stopped two flips befer FEH stopped flipping and probably would have been crushed if he hadn't have been paying attention) knocking on the window. He opened his eyes to see his cell phone hanging from it's recharger in front of him. He shrugs and thinks how convenient it is. He grabs it and calls his brother.
The Rescue
Now as an aside here, I thought I'd mention the guy who found him called the police. Except, he gave half the report in spanish. All the dispatcher understood was "truck" and "[insert highway here]" and that here were injuries. They got the mile post wrong. So they get to the mile post they thought it was, wrong vehicle. I say wrong vehicle because there was another wreck there, but it was a car and no injuries. They travel up and down the road finding numerous other accidents, all the wrong one.
Hubby in the mean time calls his brother. Keep in mind he's still in a bit of shock. He calls up and says, "He bro, I've been in a bit of an accident. Could you call the guy I work with and let him know I won't make the appointments today with our clients?" His brother agrees and asks, "Well how long will it be before you can make it up?" FEH sighs and says, "Well I'm not entirely sure. I'm haning upside down in my truck on the side of the road. I suppose I'll have to wait and see how long it takes for the ambulence to get out here before I can answer that."
Dead silence on the other end of the phone for a moment or two before his brother explodes, "AND YOU COULDN'T HAVE TOLD ME THAT FIRST?!"
I'm still laughing about that last bit. In the end, he gave his location to his brother. His brother called the state police with the correct information. They finally got to him after about 45 minutes. The flipped the truck over, dragged him out, and loaded him up in the ambulence.
Epilogue
Then the emergency tech comes over and asks if he thinks his injuries are serious. FEH didn't think so, and said he could stand to wait a bit. The guy said, "Good, because there's another wreck up the road with six injured passengers and they're calling in all available units. Would you mind sharing a ride to the hospital?"
All in all, he's just fine, though the emergency tech told him from the what they could tell they were surprised he made it out. He was released the same day. He walked away with sore muscles, microscopic pieces of glass in his eyes, and a slightly out of whack back. Not even a scratch on him. He got the first of his laser back treatments to correct the damage to his back and neck later in the day.
FYI
Just for reference, in that stretch of road there was 17 accidents in a four hour period.
Now for the photos...

They flipped the truck over on it's side, and then used jaws of life to remove the roof. They used big power tools to remove the steering wheel. They also had to pry the dash board off his legs. They'd been pinned, and when they pulled him out he couldn't feel his legs from about the groin down. Turns out they were just asleep. He got feeling back within hours.

Notice all the stuff from the back of his truck that stayed there? I can't quite figure that one out. Incidentally, they found his bed box with all his tools in it still in tact and locked. However, they never recovered his keys.

I think the guy kneeling next to him is the one who reported the accident first, but I won't swear to it. Also, inside the cab? He'd had a 60 pound case with his work equipment in it. Luckily, it didn't hit him during the flips, but it did land on the passenger seat and break it in half at the joint.
