It pays to know magic (and other news).
Apr. 27th, 2006 09:28 amI was amused to read an article about David Copperfield getting robbed at gunpoint. That in itself wasn't funny, obviously, but how it all turned out made me smile.
In the article I read about it, they said:
Dude. I want to learn that trick. Might come in handy should I ever visit New York.

In other news, the junior highs in our area have been threatened. I'm not sure what the threat was, but at least four of the schools sent notes home with the students saying that coming to school on the specified date was optional.
One of the schools happens to be a junior high I have on both my AM and PM routes. When I got there this morning, there was a cop posted at the back entrance. All totalled, we only had 50% of our normal riders. According to the other schools that this happen to, none of which so far had any incidents on those days, say the attendance those days was only at 20%.
Should make for an interesting PM route...

"His assistants handed over money, plane tickets and other various items. Copperfield turned his pockets inside out to show he had nothing on him - a sleight of hand by the illusionist, who later showed police he was carrying a passport, wallet and cell phone."
