Spent my evening avoiding the debates and catching up on fic.  Got to thinking today about how strange it is sometimes to see what someone is really about, but second guess yourself.

I don't know if any of you remember, but awhile back I'd mentioned that hubby had trouble with a kid of a friend of his.  I won't get into details again, but he'd made trouble for hubby.  We never really knew why, other than just to be a prick, but it ruined a friendship with this friend of his over it.  They still talk, but Hubby doesn't trust him anymore.

Anyway, long story short the kid finally blew up the other day.  Backstory here is that the kid just caused trouble for everyone.  I mean, he literally was a troublemaker.  He would do everything from stealing from his friends and teachers to using the shower as his own personal toilet.  He was more famous for causing arguments by making up stories.  His Dad is intensely protective of him though, and only ever wanted to make sure he was well cared for.  He never really listened to anyone trying to tell him that his kid was screaming for help with his acting out behavior.

It all came to a head this past week though.  The kid just finally gave up and went to his dad and told him straight out, "Listen, I don't want to be here anymore.  I want you to give over custody to Mom.  I don't want to have anything to do with you anymore.  I want to live with Mom."  The poor guy was so stunned he actually did it.  He gave up his parental rights to his ex-wife and let his boy go.

It's sad to think about it really. The poor man was so protective of him he never saw the behavior for what it really was.  The boy was acting out trying to get his Dad to kick him out of the house.  I feel sorry for both of them actually.  I just hope the boy finds with his mother what he never seemed to find with his father...
