This makeup artist I found on Youtube does some awesome special effects makeup. She makes them look so easy!

She's also got a Snow Queen, zombie, bullet hole, scars, and an awesome screw through a finger.

Very clever! I was actually interested because I've been thinking of improving on a scarecrow costume I did years ago... it involves essentially papier macheing my face, using a tannish colored tissue (the sort you would use in gift wrapping). It worked really well when I did it last time, making it look as though my face was made from a paper bag. What I've been thinking of doing, though, is using the same technique, but making "seams" that I would then sew together with twine. I'm going to have to take a look at some of her other videos, because it looks like she's got one that uses a similar idea.

I guess that's what I liked is the simple ideas and solutions. I'm sure you can find a few ideas to adapt.
