Gardening!!!
Jun. 16th, 2011 03:40 pmBeen trying to get my garden in shape again this year. Didn't have much chance last year as we didn't have much of a Spring season. Nothing grew. This year is only marginally better, but we're doing what we can.
Bleeding Heart

It was so odd to see a white variety. It's doing really well in it's little spot by our porch underneath the wisteria.
Day Lillies

These babies have taken over the other side of the porch. We started with just three wee little plants, and they just spawned from there. We've been uprooting them as they come in and spreading them out over other parts of the yard. They already bloomed this year, but they're a lovely dark orange color.
The Cleanup

We've got a strip along the side of the house that's unfortunately gotten out of hand. We had so much trouble with it the last couple years because of the lawn care guys mowing over bits and pieces of it that we just gave up.
We finally got a little fence surrounding it, but the lawn care guys don't know what a weed eater is so haven't trimmed along it at all. We've been doing out there with kitchen sheers and snipping it down as it comes in, but got behind on this side bed.
We've got in there hostas (which are blooming really well this year), and you can almost see the bright pink bleeding heart hiding there among the tall grass.
*****
I don't even want to show you the pictures of our overgrown herb and veggie garden. The grass there is mutant. It's gotten up to 4 feet high (and honestly, I didn't even know grass could even get that high!).
