First day of Sunday School
May. 30th, 2010 05:50 pmHad my first day today. Not actually teaching lessons, but I did hang out and get an idea of how things are done.
It's surprisingly well organized from what I remember of it last time, and as I understand it it's rather new for them too. I'll have an army of leader-type people and other helps if one of the kids have issues (though there's only three of them in my class). Their class time is split between two sessions over a two hour period. I've only actually got a 20 or 30 minute window to teach them. Not too bad overall.
Coolest thing, especially for my budget, is that I have access to the church library and it's resources for any lessons and projects I come up with. TVs and media players, pictures, craft items... you name it they got it.
My three little students are a little high strung at the moment, but they've not had a regular teacher in some time.
Going to get started on looking over my teaching manual and next week's lesson. Hopefully I can come up with something to keep the little darlings' interest piqued.
