Where's my beaker?

I always wanted to be a chemist.  Well okay, not really.  But I did experiment an awful lot when I was little.

I used to get in so much trouble with my Mom because she'd come into her bathroom in the morning to get ready for work and find empty bottles.  I used to sneak in there and try mixing different items to see if I could make anything explode.

I never did succeed, though I did once manage to make a minty fresh lotion that made your skin ultra-soft if used as a mask.

I suppose it's no wonder when I got older I became interested in the Anarchist's Cookbook.  Oddly enough, it was my brother-in-law who introduced me to that one.  He had this catalog.  It was what you might have found if the CIA had a mail-order catalog for all their toys.

My brother-in-law is an odd duck.  He's hard to shop for on Christmas.  I usually end up getting him a box of hollow points and a gift certificate to Home Depot and he's happy, but I digress.

My experimentation often extended into the kitchen.  Round about the 15th of the month you would often times find me in the kitchen trying to invent the perfect recipe for chocolate sauce.

I never did succeed, though I did once manage to make the perfect dipping sauce for bananas.

This of course leads me to my current dilemma.  I've been without chocolate for over a month now (except in cookies).  I've been eyeing my garden wondering how hard it would be to plant a cocoa tree in my backyard.

I'm getting desperate.  I've even started experimenting with the unsweetened chocolate to see if I can turn it into a chocolate bar.

I haven't yet succeeded, though I did manage some lovely chocolate sauce perfect for sundaes.  The flavor is vaguely reminiscent of semi-sweet chocolate chips.

*runs off to hunt down the cocoa powder for more experiments in chocolate*

ETA: I made myself a small batch of Chocolate Lover's frosting and put it on graham crackers. I don't have marshmallows, or I'd be all set for s'mores.
