Hubby goes fishing (aka camping), pt. 2
Jul. 17th, 2006 07:46 pmThe rest of the story involves his new best friend, a blue heeler named Fluffy (his owner's name is Bunny, so what can you expect?).
First thing you must understand is that hubby hates dogs. Well, not so much hates as is completely terrified of them. So of course, one of the little buggers attaches himself to hubby's side for the day.
Hubby goes fishing
Fishing with a dog bred to catch is a bad idea, as it turns out. Hubby would cast out his bait. Fluffy would run out to catch it. Poor ol' boy was so proud of himself. Unfortunately, hubby couldn't bring himself to congratulate the dog for scaring away the fish.
Hubby skips rocks
Quickly tiring of the fishing game with Fluffy, hubby took to chucking rocks out into the river. Well, actually he was creating a small wading pool and would throw the unused rocks over his shoulder. Fluffy thought this was a great game. He would run off and catch the discarded rocks, which he found in the middle of the river, and would bring them back. Hubby didn't realize he was doing this until he discovered the large pile of rocks beside his chair Fluffy had built for him.
Hubby chews on weeds
Don't ask; it's some sort of hick thing. He was resting on a small hill under a shade tree chewing on a grass type weed. Next thing you know, the weed is gone and the group around the campfire is laughing their asses off. Hubby opened his eyes to see Fluffy running off and full tilt with his prize hanging out of his mouth.
Hubby gets a dust bath
Giving up his nap under the three, hubby gave up and went back to sit around the campfire. Fluffy, being all proud of himself, trots on up and sits right next to hubby. For this next bit, you need to know that Fluffy's tail had not been docked (meaning he had a full fluffy tail). So, as you can imagine, what with Fluffy being all proud of himself and all, he was wagging his tail at full speed. I don't think hubby had even realized the dog was there until he noticed the small cloud of dust billowing around his chair. Fluffy's tail was kicking up quite the dust cloud. Couldn't even see the dog it was so thick.
Needless to say, hubby came home dirty and just a bit on the grumpy side.
