A new day...
Nov. 21st, 2005 09:40 pm...and with a new day comes new problems.
Today we had to take the time to search and fail to find my husband's social security card. He had applied for a new card, but it won't get here in time. In lieu of that, the arbitrator will accept any document with a social security number listed on it (If you're confused, I think the UK equivalent is the NI). o.0 I challenge you to find a document with your full social security number listed on it.
Several hours later, we finally found five legitimate documents with the number (three five-year old pay stubs and two letters from the Federal Tax Comission). No word yet if they'll be accepted, but we're taking them all.
Speaking of the FTC, hubby visited the local branch today. Turns out you can't get a tax transcript from their office. No real surprise there, but it didn't hurt to try. In any case, it wouldn't have worked. What they're looking for is an actual copy of the document federal tax form filed. Takes two weeks (and $30) to get a copy, and after a discussion with our lawyer we found out we have 30 days to produce this document.
As for the bank statement we were missing, after another discussion with our lawyer hubby found an semi-recent statement that would work.
I think we're finally ready. 3pm tomorrow is the official time. I'm not nervous at all. *flails* Wish me luck!
