I left straight after my presentation on Thursday to go camping. Camping itself was great. I actually had a headache the entire time, but it was worth it to see the family. Some of them I haven't seen them or their kids in forever.
My brother-in-law, the one that never shows up to any family events, was actually there. Found out he's currently working for Godfrey Entertainment (a startup film company which so far has only done extreme sports films). He's doing rather well I guess. We had a bit of a chat over my work. I guess a client was Googling for information about him and came up with an article I wrote which featured quotes from an interview I did with him. Small world, huh?
There's too many in the family to keep up with. Needless to say, the highight of the trip was my hubby consistently referring to his sister's pregnant state with "half-baked muffin." I'm not sure if she actually ever heard him say that or not. I'm guessing not since he's not bruised.
It's good to be home. Hubby fixed my computer last night, so all is well. I guess there's a securement strap that is broken, so all my cards are just hanging in the breeze. One wrong move and any of them could go. *shuffles away carefully* I lost count, but a few more weeks yet until mine gets here.
Oh, and I got my graded final paper and presentation back today. The final paper received a 99 out of 100 (I did the research and writing for it on my own). We only got an 87 out of a 100 for the final presentation. The instructor mentioned numerous times the comprehensive research, wondered why the presentation didn't have slide titles similar to the ones from the paper, and finally mentioned that the concluding sections gave the otherwise waffling presentation a focus and pulled it together. Of course I don't feel at all smug that the sections my teacher loved were the ones that I worked on. About the final sections, my teammates and I had an argument over those. They weren't in the paper, and considering ensuring the presentation follows the paper is worth 50% of our overall grade, I suggested we take it out. I was outvoted 2 to 1, so they left it in. With one day left before the final presentation, I had no choice but to write a section there that made it look like it was tied into the paper afterall. I really just turned it into one long conclusion. I thought it turned out rather well, myself. Apparently, the instructor agreed. *fights off another smug smile*
With that thought, I'm taking a few days off before I start studying for my next class. I'm gonna work on backing up my data on this computer, maybe finish off some graphics projects, and catch up on a few fics. I've got no hope of ever reading back on my flist. *sigh*
