Just a bit disturbing...
Apr. 11th, 2005 06:40 pmYou know, you find out something you didn't know every day. I'm not sure where I was when they were teaching about Stalin, but I'm quite sure they didn't tell us that the number of Russian citizens that died during his reign was quite that high.
The narrator on this show in the History channel is saying that by the end of the war, there were over 27 million dead in his country (priests, writers, artists, and the like among them), and most of them due entirely to Stalin's own paranoid hand. They're saying that the deaths of his own people was higher than that of the Holocaust victims during Hitler's reign during the same time period.
How horrifying would it have been to be living as either a German, Russian, or Jewish during that time? So many people died by these two leaders hands.
Then to odden things up a bit, he is mourned by his people upon his death, even among those who hated him. I just don't get that.

Yeah, yeah. I'm not normall big on the social commentary in this journal. I was just watching the history channel and was too lazy to change the channel and had a think or two on this documentary.
Now onto other bright notes, MGM and United Artists are gone. WTF? Yup, they done been sold to the Sony consortium or some such. I guess they'd been "dying slow deaths for years," whatever that means. It's just so strange. They've been like, the mainstay. You see a film, and it's either got the MGM or United Artists stamp on it. Or maybe that's just me. *shrug*
In other news, the kerfuffle continues and it's getting ugly. I'm just getting so tired of it though. Honestly, I am. One more calm comment about standard fanart protocol and I'm done with it. All my art is offline and won't be coming back up. Well it will, but in small doses and y'all will have to sign wavers upon viewing it all... and possibly have tracking devices installed in your brains. *gr*

Date: 2005-04-12 01:39 am (UTC)Nah, this is over a particular piece of mine that was taken for an icon for this collection here posted at marsters_daily. It's since been taken down, but I've been dealing with them and their issues over not seeing anything wrong with taking it if they see it. *shrug*

Date: 2005-04-12 01:59 am (UTC)I mean, usually when kerflunkles break out everyone has their keisters in the air but that was just...wa?! How could they not see that the image on google was a piece of art and not a production shot? *boggles* And you guys both had your heads on straight enough to sound rational even though your feelings were hurt. And the caps...Oh! My eyes!
As for the community it isn't about this incident in particular. It was created a few weeks ago, and mentioned on
I'm going to double my efforts to find it, just so you can feel better. *pets*

Now, I thought it was a community, after rereading it, other people refer to it as a community too. I remember this post was supposed to be in a link on the info page but I'm at a dead end. The only thing I can think is that the person who set it all up, decided not to continue it. *shrug* But it was a community, I swear!
p.s. You'll see me in the thread, asking questions cause other than my paranoia about upsetting anyone, I have no clue about rules for fanart. If there is a 'standard fanart protocol' like you mentioned before, I'd love a link to it. :-)
And as I'm putting this all in, I hit the wrong button, and all my tabs close. *face palm* Good thing I clicked it all to copy first. *sigh* I need a nap.

Date: 2005-04-12 03:27 am (UTC)Posted something tonight and someone said "steals!" in the comment... am trying to point out that the copyright thing is for reals.
Le sigh.
On the bright side, you n' me are not artists in Russia 60 years ago, so that's a plus!
