Random

Nothing serious to update, so it's just a bit of what I've been up to this week.

  • I've got eczema, and it's been flaring up a bit on my face. Basically, it makes my skin super dry and flaky in random spots. Incidentally, it also makes me very sensitive to just about everything. It's hard for me to find a product that won't flare up my dry skin rashes. I ordered some CeraVe PM to see how it'll work for me. Heard good things about it, so we'll see.

  • Finally finished off the fudge cake I made for Christmas. Unfortunately, I finished it off in one go. Normally not a problem seeing as I ate a piece and a half. However, I've found I strongly allergic to it (flares up my milk and chocolate allergies). So, spent the whole night sick. Was it worth it? Hell yes. :)

  • Trying to get caught up on random chapters of stuff people have written. Reading it from various fandoms. I've been sick since before Thanksgiving, off and on, so I've not been doing much. I had more squirreled away than I thought though, so it's slow going.

  • Speaking of being sick, I've been holding off editing more chapters of my Nano HP Lucius/Harry story because of said illness. Oddly, I've got a strong reaction from readers over this story, even with just one chapter. People keep pinging me with requests to do more, and I've just not felt up to it at all. I'm finally getting over whatever it was that was bothering me though, so hopefully I can pump out another chapter soon.

That's it for now! I'm off to get some work done. Try to stay warm. Hope everyone's week has been going well so far. :)

Ugh, I hate eczema. I mostly just get it on my hands, really bad with certain soaps (liquid with dyes and fragrances), but the girls used to get it everywhere from food allergies.

I have the same relationship with cake. I've got a mild egg allergy and a refined sugar sensitivity, so it feels like I've been beaten up, but YUM! Thank goodness for Benedryl.

Anything with dyes and fragrance will get to me. There are very few exceptions. I even got a nasty rash once (my first one) from wearing a jacket I hadn't washed first. LOL

There are some cakes I can eat (so long as I don't overdo it, and never ever mix chocolate cake with chocolate ice cream), but this on in particular had a ganache mixed into it (which is just cream and melted chocolate). Apparently a deadly mixture for me (way worse than chocolate and peanut butter, unfortunately).

I get you though. I wish it were different, but sometimes you just got to take your Benedryl (or Mylanta in my case) and eat it consequences be damned. :D

Sometimes I use liquid Benedryl when I'm not sure I need it because it has a lovely sedative effect on the stomach. Although I wish I found something that works as well that doesn't make me tired. Claritin just doesn't cut it.

That cake does sound like it was worth it. YUM!

Never thought of using Benedryl like that. Taking the lactose tablets don't work for me (if there's milk involved). I seem to have an allergy, not an intolerance (makes my skin break out in nasty rash if milk touches my skin too). Might give that one a try. Doesn't seem to make me sleepy for some odd reason. Any other allergy pill does, except that one.

The liquid Benedryl works right away, especially soothing to the throat on the way down, if there's any swelling. I love the stuff. The pills will sit in your stomach for at least 20 minutes before they do anything. There are dissolvable ones for kids that work a little faster. I keep them in my purse. It'll help reduce the duration of an allergic eczema attack too. Poor Elizabeth had her whole body covered with rashes the first trials I did of egg and milk. Benedryl's the awesomest.

I am so sorry about your allergies and exczema.

It's alright. I rather look it as an excuse to test new products and foods. :D

Hope your eczema clears up soon, honey. I'll be looking forward to more of your Lucius/Harry story when you have time to edit it. *hugs*

Me too! Winter always seems to make it worse. Got big hopes for the new product! :)

I'm looking forward to that story too, truth be told. LOL Funny how that works. I get this visual in my head of the scenes I write. Great fun with most stories that way.
