Mass Defriending

Sort of.

If you're reading this, you're not affected. If you read this 2 months from now, you're still not affected.

Now, if you read this three years from now and haven't heard from me in all that time, you just might have got cut. In which case a simple note of, "Dood, what's up with that?" will immediately rectify the situation.

Here's the thing. I'm a pack rat by nature. I compulsively hoard things. They're pretty and shiny and I like them. I'm getting better about dusting every now and then with comments.

But still, no sense in keeping journals that hide from me. I can do that much without flailing.

So, the defriending commenced. I only got rid of people that have never set eyes on this journal (they don't have me friended back). Among those non-mutuals are folks that haven't seen LJ in the last 2 to 4 years, folks I don't share interests with anymore, and a few that defriended me.

One of these days I'll get rid of old communities too.

On a side note, this is the first time I've done this since the journal's creation almost six years ago.

I had a LOT of stuff to go through.

*sets clock for another 6 years*

I did it through Semagic. I can highlight a name and hit remove. Less scare that way, because I had the same thought in mind when I considered it.

You can use it to update your journal, maintain your friends lists/communities/filters, etc. Very handy program. You can find it here.

They've got a couple journals on LJ, but I think this one has the best description of what all it does.
