Spring Fever 2006: Favs and Recs

Went and started off my spring vacation with a bang.  First a new favorite I've picked up...

Best Buffy the Vampire Slayer Video EVER!  Well okay, it's like my second favorite next to the VH-1 popup video one that I've got mirrored on my site ("I Touch Myself" by JS & AAR).  But it's still up there:

I've been reading a few BtVS Crossover fics lately.  I've got a new favorite there as well (good for the submissive!Xander fans out there):
"The Chronicles of Riddick The Underverse" by Aewnaur
WARNING: It's a WIP for those of you who hate those.

I watched Alien vs Predator recently and have come to love the Predator in all his newfound history.  Didn't know before this that there was some actual story behind those guys.  Anyway, my kink took over and I found myself a couple good fics that re-wrote a bit of that history and feature the hero Predator from AVP, Scar:
"Surviving This," it's sequel "Sacrifice Theory," and the alternate ending epilogue to the trilogy, "Solitary Trial" by Solain Rhyo.
WARNING: Did I mention the kink?  It's a Predator/Human fic, though the romance bit doesn't come in until the alternate ending epilogue.  The other two I mentioned are pretty vanilla and good on their own if you read the alternate endings.

I've got a couple other fics I'm going through at the moment, but these are the ones I thought worth mentioning at the moment. 

As for the rest of my holiday I plan on spending time updating a few tidbits here and there.  I've also been working on a personal site for myself.  Might have to work part-time in the office later this week, but that's not written in stone yet. 

The rest of my time will be spent immersing myself in fanfic from all genres.  I'll let y'all know when I get more recs.

I feel so dirty-bad-wrong that I absolutely *loved* Alien vs. Predator. I need to watch it again, I think. :)

You know, except for that nightly clenching in my stomach that signals I need to go to bed because I have to work in the morning and then goes away reluctantly in relief with the knowlege that I don't have to after all...

...or something.

I downloaded the "I Touch Myself" vid and I couldn't bear to play it all the way through! The visuals were fun; but the horrible noise when the pop-ups appeared wrecked it for me. I want to hear the Divinyls, not "pop! pop!".

Most of the Predator back-story and culture in "Alien vs Predator" first appeared in the novel "Prey" by Steve and Stephani Perry. For a movie spin-off novel (usually a dire idea) it is quite staggeringly good. The relationship between Scar and Alexa in the movie is a pale and disappointing shadow of the beautifully touching Sensei/pupil relationship between the old Predator master Dachande (aka Broken Tusk) and Machiko Noguchi (named "Da'dtou-di", or "small female knife", by Dachande) in the book. The good bits of the AvP movie were ripped off from the book; the bad bits weren't.

*bows in humble deference* See? I knew I wasn't the only one that thinks this stuff is fascinating. I'll have to give the book a try. I'm all new to this so I'm a bit behind on the facts. Got any other good recs?

Thanks for recicng the Riddick fic. I followed the link and really enjoyed it. I LOVE crossovers and I always forget about that archive. I must go hunt out some more Xander-centric stuff there ;o)
